【看中国2018年11月8日讯】據美聯社11月7日消息，因迴避對俄羅斯干預美國選舉的調查而遭到批評一年多之後，美國司法部長傑夫．塞申斯（Jeff Sessions）在7日宣布辭職。
塞申斯在遞交給川普總統的一封信中宣布辭職，他寫道，他的辭職是應川普總統的要求。
11月7日，川普總統在個人推特上宣布，他任命來自愛荷華州前檢察官馬修．惠特克（Matthew Whitaker）接替塞申斯，擔任代理司法部長。川普總統寫道：“我們感謝司法部長塞申斯的工作，並祝福他！正式的司法部長人選將在以後得到提名。”
